SEASONAL MACHINERY OPERATOR ROLES - NEW ZEALAND
A S Wilcox & Sons are a family owned, vertically integrated business with our head office based in Pukekohe, 60 kilometers south of Auckland city. Our main crops are potatoes, carrots and onions, grown for the NZ domestic market and we export onions to UK and Europe and carrots to Asia. We have growing operations in Kaitaia (Northland), Pukekohe (south of Auckland), Matamata (Waikato) and Ohakune (Central North Island) with packing operations in Pukekohe and Rakaia. Over the last 15 years we have enjoyed hosting operators from UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Holland, USA and Japan from November through to April each season. The roles filled by these people are now critical to our seasonal programme.
We are looking for 10-12 operators to work either in Northland (Kaitaia), Pukekohe (South Auckland) or Matamata (Waikato).
Ideally, you will have experience operating large machinery – John Deere tractors, Grimme potato harvesters, onion or carrot harvesters. We also look for people who can run our irrigation programmes through these months – we usually run at least 2 teams per region, assist with ground preparation, cultivation and planting. The most important criteria is a great attitude and a willingness to get the job done safely. Our work plan is organised so you will know in advance what you will be doing each day.
We offer excellent backpacker type shared accommodation with all linen and kitchen equipment supplied. You would work at least 6 days per week and up to 10-12 hours per day through the busy periods. We aim to give you a great work experience and an opportunity to take some time to visit other regions in New Zealand. Our locations are close to beaches (you can be fishing in 30 mins – 1 hour drive) depending on region along with great surf beaches and other outdoor recreational pursuits. You will require a working holiday visa prior to arrival in New Zealand.
Our recruitment process is now underway for the 2018/2019 season. If you are interested in a seasonal role in New Zealand, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org along with your CV or an outline of your work experience. We will make contact with you promptly. Our recruitment process starts with an initial Skype interview at which time we will want to learn some more about you and what you are looking for as well as your availability. We will give you a good overview of working at Wilcox. We welcome interest from friends or colleagues who want to travel and work together. We have found this works well in the past and you can share expenses such as a vehicle.
