Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 x 250g Coles Australian beef porterhouse steaks
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Coles Brand smokey Texan basting sauce
  • 2 large brown Wilcox onions, thickly sliced into rings
  • Extra vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup (45g) rice flour
  • 1/2 cup (75g) plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) chilled soda water
  • 600g tub Coles Brand mashed potato
  • 400g green beans, steamed

Directions

  • Step 1

    Heat oil in large frying pan over medium-high heat. Season steaks and cook, basting with the sauce, for 2 mins each side or until cooked to your. Transfer to a heatproof plate. Rest, covered, for 5 mins.

  • Step 2

    Meanwhile, separate onion rings. Heat oil in a medium frying pan over medium-high heat. Combine flours, paprika and soda water in a medium bowl. Season. Coat onion rings in batter and fry for 2 mins each side or until golden. Drain on paper towel.

  • Step 3

    Heat mash following pkt directions. Divide steaks, mash and beans among serving plates. Top with onion rings.
